This is my grandma; perhaps she is the best one EVER!! My Grandma was the nicest, smartest and bravest woman that I have ever known. I have heard that she had taught her sister-in-law how to drive in the middle of the cornfield. I know that she taught me how to drive when I was about 5! It starts with sitting on her lap and then by the time I was 12, I could do it all by myself. My Grandma and I have many stories of sewing 4-H projects! She had the patience of a saint. We would sew and rip and she always thought that I was perfect (or as perfect as anyone could be). I would have many sleep-overs with my grandma: we would watch TV, sew and make hot chocolate. My grandma was very involved in 4-H. Grandma was so involved that when she got to the stage in her life that she had dementia, she would still ask me if my 4-H projects were done. I have been out of 4-H now for some time! I did, however, take comfort in the fact that those days were still in her heart.

Many times my parents had forgotten me at my cross-country practice after school, but grandma would always come and pick me up.

Grandma never judged me. She loved me for who I was and was the closest thing to Jesus that I know in this life!

As I am going through this part of my life (my husband’s deployment), I find myself wondering how Grandma would handle this and I try my best to do it the way that I think she would.

My grandma has now passed away and has been gone for a couple of months, but she was such a big part of my life that I feel that she is still with me.
